Description

The Mediterranean shearwater ( Puffinus yelkouan ) is a species of bird procelariforme family Procellariidae own the Mediterranean and Black Sea.The Mediterranean Shearwater is a medium-sized shearwater, measuring 34 to 39 cm long and has a wingspan of 78 to 90 cm.It has the plumage of the upper parts blackish and white the one of the inferior ones, being very similar to the pardela pichoneta,of which it is very difficult to differentiate, although they do not usually overlap their distribution areas. On the other hand,it does coincide in much of the western Mediterranean with the Balearic shearwater, but they differ somewhat better because the latter is not so dark in the upper parts, and also has stained flanks which makes the contrast between the parts higher and lower is smaller.Repetitive and prolonged claim: "aii-h iich".
