Description

The ' Amazon woodchat ( Amazona viridigenalis ) is a bird of the family of Psittacidae.It has a size of around 33 cm,a green-based plumage with yellow hues in the ventral part.The feathers are bordered with dark,especially those of the neck.It has a wide red forehead that reaches up to the upper part of the eyes,hence the common name of the parrot,from where an evident violet band starts going towards the nape.The cheeks and the covering of the ears are of a very particular bright green.On the wings there are red bands due to the first 5 secondary covering pens.The tail is green tending to yellowish at the tip.The eye has yellow-orange iris and has a small naked periophthalmic ring.The beak is horny yellow and has a not very marked rosy wax but with well evident nostrils.The legs are light gray.
