Description

The baru moruna ( Pterocles exustus ) is a species of bird in the family Pteroclididae.It inhabits large,arid and arid lands,and is found in central and northern Africa,and southern Asia.Although they live in hot and arid climates,they are highly dependent on the existence of water.We know of cases in which they have flown almost 80 km in a single day in search of water.It has been determined that all the species of gangue that have been studied in their habitat are vegetarian throughout their existence,specializing in seeds of leguminous plants and rarely ingesting grass seeds.In the 1960s many specimens were captured using traps in Rajasthan in India and introduced into Nevada.They have also been introduced in Hawaii In 1979 a subspecies was observed,P.e.floweri,in the Nile valley in Egypt.It is believed that it is extinct,although the reasons that led to its extinction are unknown
