Description

The face frog ( Laterallus xenopterus Conover,1934 ) is a bird of the family of the Rallidi native to central-southern Brazil and central Paraguay.The face frog is about 14 cm long and is covered with a rather colorful plumage.Head and neck are brown-reddish and the brown back uniform.The wings and the tail are blackish.The coverts are covered with white and black bars.The upper part of the chest is chamois-orange,with a lighter throat.The remaining lower parts are white,striped black on the abdomen.The undertail is almost completely black.The upper branch of the beak is blackish,the lower one is turquoise.The legs are gray-brown
