Description

The Huastec frog or Moore's frog ( Lithobates johni ) is a species of anuran amphibian of the Ranidae family.It is endemic to the states of San Luis Potosí,Hidalgo,Veracruz and Puebla,Mexico.The word Lithobates comes from the Greek lithos,stone and bats,which it treads,that is to say it means "that it treads on the rock" or "climber of rock".Its color is dark olive green in the dorsal region and light to white in the ventral part,with a white stripe that passes over the eye and ends towards the forearm.In the anterior part of the legs there are dark transverse bands.In the fingers it has developed discs,elongated tubers in the extremities in the shape of knives,and pustules in the dorsal area.The length of the snout to the cloaca in an adult male can be between 6.2 and 8.1 cm.
