Description

The fishing owl Pel ( Scotopelia hair Bonaparte,1850 ) is a bird of the family of Strigidae,widespread in Africa.This big owl is 55-65 centimeters long and weighs between two and two and a half pounds [ without source ].The plumage,which is the same in both sexes,is brownish shaded with yellow,slightly darker on the back,completely speckled and streaked with black which facilitates camouflage among the trees.The helmsman feathers are very long;The facial disc is quite small with large eyes blacks and beak black and curved.The claws are long and curved,suitable for slimy prey.
