Chestnut-bellied flower-piercer

(Diglossa gloriosissima)

Description

It measures 14.5 to 15 cm in length.The bill is black and has a hooked tip.The eyes are dark.Most of the plumage of the upper parts,the wings,and the throat,is bright black;the chest and belly are reddish brown rufous.In the male the shoulders are grayish blue and the rump is dyed slate gray.;in the female,the croup is grayish blue,while the shoulder patches are more gray.
