The glossy ibis (Plegadis falcinellus) is a species of bird pelecaniforme the family Threskiornithidae own southern Eurasia,Africa,Australasia,the Caribbean and North American Atlantic coast.3 4 is an ibis dark reddish brown,which frequents coastal wetlands.Despite its wide distribution,no subspecies are known.The morito is a medium-sized ibis.It measures between 48-66 cm long,with an average of 59.4 cm and a wingspan of 80-105 cm.The height of its peak is between 9.7 and 14.4 cm,each wing is between 24.8 to 30.6 cm,its tail is from 9 to 11.2 cm and its shanks are between 6,8-11.3 cm.6 Its weight ranges between 485 and 970 g.Adults in reproductive plumage have dark reddish brown plumage with bronze glisten on wings.The non-breeding plumage and the juvenile plumage is more off.Its bill is grayish,and presents a lorumdark naked V-shaped,bluish gray color (in the non-reproductive period) that turns cobalt blue color framed by two white lines.Its legs are reddish brown.Although it is quite silent it emits various squawks and grunts,including a hoarse cry,whose onomatopoeia is "grrrr" ',during the breeding season.
