Description

It reaches on average a length of about 8.9 cm.The beak is about 1.3 cm long.It presents sexual dimorphism.The forehead and front of the cheeks of the male are reddish brown (rufous).The crown,nape and back are metallic green.The tail is acanella color with central green feathers.The lower body of the male is mainly bright green but has cinnamon color on the chin and throat and also a tuft of curved white feathers under the tail.The female has a white breast and the rest of the lower part is tan to bright suede with green nuances only on the sides.The upper part of the female is like the bright green male,but the forehead is also green.The Pirreño hummingbird,Pirre hummingbird or red-fronted tucusito ( Goethalsia bella ) is a species of bird of the family Trochilidae,monophyletic of its kind,found in the humid forest of eastern Panama and the adjacent area of ​​the north-western of Colombia,between 600 and 1,650 m of altitude.
