(Troglodytes sissonii)
Thryothorus sissonii Grayson,1868,Socorro Island,in Revillagigedo Group, off west Mexico.Although traditionally placed in genus Thryomanes (where even suggested to be conspecific with Thryomanes bewickii),and sometimes in Thryothorus, recent molecular work supports its placement in present genus, close to T.aedon.Species name insularis commonly used prior to 1951,when sissonii was shown to have priority;proposal for treatment of latter as a nomen oblitum has generally been ignored, and since 1951 sissonii has been used almost universally.Monotypic.
