Description

The diucon ( Xolmis pyrope ),also known as urco or huilco,is a passerine bird of South America belonging to the Tyrannidae family.The subspecies X.pyrope fortis is endemic to the Chiloé archipelago and is differentiated by its slightly larger size and somewhat darker colorsIt measures between 19 and 21 cm long.Its plumage is mainly flat and gray,presenting primaries and coverts with different shades of dark gray.The eyes are bright red,except in the immature specimens,which have a brown color.It feeds on insects and wild fruits.
