Description

Kerivoula pellucida is a bat mouse first described by Waterhouse 1845.Kerivoula pellucida is part of the genus Kerivoula and the family leather bats.The IUCN categorizes the species globally as close to threatened.No subspecies are listed in the Catalog of Life.The species occurs in southern Malacka,Borneo,Sumatra,Java and the Philippines.It lives in the lowlands and in low mountain ranges up to 1000 meters above sea level.The habitat consists of different kinds of forests.The individuals rest on leaves or in dense bushes.The species has 29 to 32 mm long forearms,a 40 to 50 mm long tail and a weight of 3.5 to 5 g.The fur on the back has an orange-brown color with hair light gray to white close to the root.The belly appears light gray to white fur.The avian membrane and ears are almost translucent with an orange-brown color.With a length of 13 to 15 mm,the ears are long for a bat of this size.The face is only gently covered with hair and the skin has an orange red color.Like most other leather bites,this bat has skin flaps (leaves) on the nose and it has sharp teeth.Kerivoula pellucida usually fly dense over the field as it chases with the help of eco-localization.A litter is born per litter.Sometimes a young man is stuck in the mother's fur during the pursuit.The frequency of the sound varies between 58 and 178 kHz.Honor can be poor throughout the year,and sex maturity occurs approximately one year after birth.
