Description

The vespertilio Blyth ( Myotis blythii Tomes,1857 ) is a bat of the family of Vespertilionids widespread in Asia.Mid-sized bat,with head and body length between 65 and 80 mm,the length of the forearm between 55.5 and 61.4 mm,the tail length between 53 and 68 mm,the length of the foot between 11 and 17 mm,the length of the ears between 19 and 26 mm.The fur is short.The dorsal parts are brownish-black with the base of gray hairs,while the ventral parts are grayish-brown with the tips of gray hairs.The snout is tight.The ears are long and narrow,with 5-6 longitudinal folds on the inner surface of the auricle and with a small round lobe at the base of the outer margin.The tragus is thin and lanceolate.The wings are attached at the back on the ankles.The feet are big.The calcar is long and devoid of fairing.The skull is long and narrow,with a well-developed sagittal crest.The first and second upper premolars are arranged along the alveolar line.The karyotype is 2n = 44 FNa = 50-52.
