Balabac mouse deer

(Tragulus nigricans)

The tragedy of the Philippines has a black and brown coat with white stripes on the throat and chest.Although in the past it has long been considered a subspecies of the major tragedy,it has intermediate dimensions between the major tragedies and the minor tragedies present on the neighboring island of Borneo. It has thin legs and an arched back covered with brown hair with a white base.On both sides of the head,a dark line runs from the ears to the nose, through the eye. The males do not have antlers like the real deer and to defend themselves from predators or fight with conspecifics for the territory they use big fang-like canines that protrude from the upper jaw.
