46P Wirtanen was Rosetta's initial target • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from the Europea Space Agency features 46P Wirtanen, which is a small comet that was the original target of the ESA’s Rosetta spacecraft.

Instead,  67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko became the first comet to be explored by a human spacecraft and probe.

This image was captured on December 9, 2018 by photographer Ollie Taylor on the Dorset Jurassic Coast.
