Today’s Image of the Day from NASA features the dark waters of the Suwannee River as they mix with light blue ocean waters.

This blackwater river is colored by organic material collected from the Okefenokee Swamp in southeastern Georgia.

The Suwannee River maintains its black tint as it flows south into the Gulf of Mexico.

This image was captured on February 20, 2015 by the Operational Land Imager on Landsat 8.
