Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Goddard introduces a new mission that will expand the reach of the typical survey area in space.

The Beyond Ultra-deep Frontier Fields And Legacy Observations (BUFFALO) mission will broaden the existing ways of monitoring outer galaxies with the Hubble Space Telescope.

The BUFFALO program is designed to identify galaxies that are in their earliest stages of formation, less than 800 million years after the big bang.
