Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Australia’s unusually warm and dry winter.

This year, daytime mean temperatures were the highest for any Australian winter on record, according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology.

This image was captured by Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard NASA’s Aqua satellite.
