Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the European Space Agency (ESA) and features a look at Boreal forests in Plesetsk, Russia.
Boreal forests play a significant role in the global carbon cycle. They are perhaps the most important carbon sinks on the planet, as they can store over 30 percent more carbon than tropical forests.
