Burn scars in the Okavango Delta • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at a burn scars across the Okavango Delta of northern Botswana.

Though the region is typically known for its annual spring flooding, this past month a slow-moving wildfire developed at the same time that the flood pulse reached its peak.

This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the Aqua satellites.
