"Camp Fire" death toll is at 48 and rising • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features the “Camp Fire” in northern California, which is the most destructive and deadliest fire in the history of the state.

The fire has burned more than 130,000 acres and is around 35 percent contained.   

By Tuesday, the number of fatalities from the Camp Fire had risen to 48, with a total of 50 deaths across the state.

This image was captured on November 12, 2018 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite.
