Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the city of Carthage, Tunisia.

The ancient Phoenicians founded Carthage somewhere between 817 and 748 BCE. The city was destroyed by the Romans during the Punic Wars, though it was later rebuilt.

This image was captured by the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) on board NASA’s Earth Observing-1 satellite.
