Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the city of Charleston, South Carolina as seen from the International Space Station.

Charleston is the oldest city in South Carolina, having been founded in 1670, and since then its population has grown to just over 134,000.

The city has a humid subtropical climate, experiencing especially hot and humid summers. This photo was taken in September 2017 and features lush summertime vegetation.
