Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the city of Chicago and Lake Michigan.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station and features a look at Chicago’s central hub, known as the Loop.

The Loop was first developed about 200 years ago due to its convenient location where traffic from both Lake Michigan and the Chicago River came together.
