Towering cumulus castellanus cloud in the Bahamas • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at a towering vertical cloud formation known as a cumulus castellanus cloud over Andros Island in the Bahamas.

According to the International Cloud Atlas from the World Meteorological Organization, these clouds are classified as either Altocumulus castellanus or Stratocumulus castellanus.

This image was captured by astronauts on board the International Space Station.
