Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at dark phytoplankton blooms off the coast of Brazil.
According to researchers at the University of São Paulo, the dark blooms are a result of high concentrations of dinoflagellates. The blooms span a total distance of roughly 60 miles along the coast of São Paulo, Brazil.
