Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at a dust storm in northern Iran.

Wind kicked up dust and sand from Iran’s Dasht-e Kavir (Great Salt Desert), which stretches roughly 48,000 square kilometers.

This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on board the Aqua satellite.
