Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Goddard features the explosive wildfire that was ignited on June 30 northeast of San Francisco.

Dry vegetation and high winds have fueled The County Fire, which has burned over 44,000 acres and prompted evacuations in Yolo County.

Over 2.5 million acres have already been consumed this year by wildfires, according to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC).
