Bushfires burn in Australia´s Northern Territory in this Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image captured by the Aqua satellite on July 26, 2003. Much of the region is characterized by tropical savannas: eucalypt forests growing over a floor of grasses. In this image, active fire detections are marked with a red square.
