Giant dust devil on Mars • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency features an incredible view of the Terra Sabaea region of Mars.

The mysterious pattern is believed to be the result of a giant dust devil that resulted from hundreds of smaller Martian tornadoes.

If the image was in natural color, the streaks would appear dark red.

The photo was captured by the Colour and Stereo Surface Imaging System (CaSSIS) onboard the ESA-Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter.
