Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows the northern Bahamas on September 7, 2019, where Hurricane Dorian lingered for nearly 40 consecutive hours.
The storm had reached Category 5 strength by the time it stalled in the Bahamas, and had become the second strongest Atlantic hurricane in modern meteorological records.
This natural-color image of Great Abaco Island and Grand Bahama was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite.
