Hazy skies over northern India • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows a massive amount of smoke lingering in the sky over northern India.

This has become a normal sight for this region each year in October and November. Industrial pollution contributes to the haze, while most of it comes from crop-burning.

This image was captured on the afternoon of October 31, 2018 by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite.
