Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Hurricanes Maria and Jose spinning through the Atlantic.

Only two weeks after Hurricane Irma brought severe damage and destruction to the Caribbean islands, the region is now bracing for Category 5 Hurricane Maria, set to make landfall in Puerto Rico today.

Meanwhile, Jose has continued up the United States east coast, deteriorating into an extratropical storm.

This image was acquired by the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite 13 (GOES East) on September 19, 2017.
