Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at sea ice floating in the Weddell Sea.

This image was captured about 3 miles south of Bawden Ice Rise by NASA’s Operation IceBridge, which is a flight mission aimed at mapping polar ice.

The older plates of ice appear gray, while the lighter chunks are more recently formed.
