Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Lake Erie capped with ice.

This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the Terra satellite when 84.2 percent of the lake’s surface was covered with ice.

The following day, ice coverage increased to 87 percent due to extremely frigid temperatures.
