Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows Lake Superior in the aftermath of intense storms that ripped through Michigan on June 17th.

The tan, red, and orange areas visible along the shore of Lake Superior represent the muddy water and debris that was transported from rivers and neighborhoods after flash flooding caused historic property damage in some regions.

The image was captured by MODIS on NASA’s Aqua satellite.
