Today’s Image of the Day from NASA features an incredible view of Jupiter captured by the Juno mission.

According to NASA, the long, thin bands that run through the center of the image are layers of haze particles that float above the underlying cloud features.

It remains a mystery what the hazes are composed of and how they are formed.

The haze may be influenced by two jet streams that are present on each side of the region where the bands appear.
