Kilauea Fissure 8 lava flow pushes northeast • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and features a look at the Kilauea volcano’s Fissure 8 lava flow continuing to push northeast.

This image was taken from a helicopter on June 1, 2018 at 6:21 am local time and shows the lava flow advancing through agricultural land.

Fissure 8 is also continuing to exhibit lava fountain activity, reaching heights of up to 260 feet in the air.
