La Malinche volcano in Mexico • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at La Malinche volcano in Mexico.

La Malinche is located just 19 miles northeast of Puebla, Mexico and towers 14,636 feet above sea level. Also known as Matlalcueye or Malintzin, the volcano has been inactive for at least the last 3,100 years.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station.
