Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Lake Fitri located in the southern Sahara Desert in Chad.

Lake Fitri is classified as an endorheic lake, also known as a terminal lake, which refers to a water body that retains water without any outflow or drainage to the ocean.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station.
