Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the miniature Landsat Island in the North Atlantic Ocean.

Landsat Island is located off the coast of Newfoundland and measures only 27 yards by 49 yards. It was discovered in 1973 by a researcher named Betty Fleming who was searching for uncharted islands using the Landsat-1 satellite.

This more current image of Landsat Island was taking using the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on board the Landsat 8 satellite.
