Today’s Image of the Day from NASA features the Andromeda Galaxy, also known as Messier 31, which is located 2.5 million light-years from Earth.

The large spiral galaxy is the closest major galaxy to our Milky Way and was named for the constellation of Andromeda, in which it appears.
