Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows two wildfires that have collectively burned over 100,000 acres in northwestern Utah.

The Bald Mountain Fire located in Mount Nebo Wilderness and the Pole Creek fire located just to the east of Bald Mountain were both ignited by lightning.

This image of both fires was captured on September 19, 2018, by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite.
