Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows persistent flooding across the Lower Mississippi River.

The flood gauges in Arkansas City, Vicksburg, Natchez, and Baton Rouge all measured water levels high enough to rank as major floods.

The flooding was caused by heavy rains in the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys.
