Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency shows the massive Woodbury Fire in Arizona, which has been burning since June 8 in the Superstition Wilderness northwest of Superior.

Heat and strong winds fueled the fire over the weekend, and more than 123,000 acres had burned by Sunday.

In this image, captured by Copernicus Sentinel-2 on June 24, burn scars are visible along with red lines created by the flame retardant used to battle the blaze.

The fire is now around 80 percent contained.
