Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Mount Jefferson, part of the Cascade Range in Oregon.

The volcanic Mount Jefferson is the second highest peak in Oregon and was discovered by William Clark and Meriwether Lewis, who named it after Thomas Jefferson.

This image was captured by the Operational Land Imager on board the Landsat 8 satellite.
