Nova Scotia against a glistening ocean •

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features the coastline of Nova Scotia in eastern Canada.

The photo shows Nova Scotia contrasting with the Atlantic Ocean as it shines in the reflection of the sun.

This “sunglint” highlights the fine coastline details in the picture including Nova Scotia’s shoreline, the northern arms of the Bay of Fundy, and the outline of Prince Edward Island.

The image was captured on May 7, 2019 by an astronaut onboard the International Space Station (ISS) using a short camera lens to obtain the wide field of view.
