Pawnee fire is raging in Northern California • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features a view of the explosive Pawnee fire in Northern California on June 24, the morning after it first ignited.

The fire is rapidly spreading across Lake County, which is about 100 miles northwest of Sacramento. By Monday night, the fire had burned more than 11, 000 acres in just two days.

This image was captured by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8.
