Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency features the Spanish setting that was chosen for the ESA lunar spacewalk tests.

The barren and dry landscape of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands will be used for Pangaea-X, a test campaign that combines geology, high-tech survey equipment, and space exploration.

Astronauts, scientists, operations experts will have an opportunity to work with the latest technologies in navigation, remote sensing, 3D imaging, and geoscience equipment.
