Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at rainwater in Rub’ al-Khali, the largest contiguous desert in the world.

Here in the eastern part of the desert near the Saudi Arabia/Oman border, so much rain fell during Tropical Cyclone Mekunu that the water began to collect between sand dunes.

This image was captured by the Operational Land Imager on board the Landsat 8 satellite.
